Lithuanian Ambassador Rimantas Latakas Wants a Close Interuniversity Cooperation

One of the special news at ULIM, in the context of academic relations evolution, is the recent meeting of the rector Andrei Galben with Mr. Rimantas Latakas, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Lithuania to Republic of Moldova. The diplomat announced that he intends to support at the highest level ULIM in modernizing the Aula Lithuania.

This aula represents the space of spirituality, culture and traditions of the Lithuanian people, which was inaugurated on January 27th, 2010 with the participation of Mr. Andrius Kubilius, the ex-prime minister of Republic of Lithuania and Her Excellency, the ex-Ambassador of this country at Chisinau, Violeta Motulaite.

His Excellency wants that the cooperation relations between ULIM and universities of Lithuania be intensified, as our students may benefit of lessons and conferences presented by professors, scientists of his country, academic exchanges, projects of research and innovation between the faculties, etc.

The ambassador expressed his satisfaction about the close cooperation between ULIM and the University Mykolas Romeris from Lithuania due to the Program of Cooperation and Mobility “Erasmus Mundus”.

“We want special relations with the Lithuanian universities: exchanges of professors and researchers, development of educational and scientific projects, etc. We want to realize what our state does not manage through political methods, i.e. with the help of popular diplomacy. ULIM’s experience is special in terms of international university relations< Lithuania represents a great interest not only for the academic environment, but also for Republic of Moldova”, says Mr. Andrei Galben.
